1 Corinthians 12:28 - “And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues.” NASB(1995)

It's amazing how different we can be from one another. I love sitting behind a desk dealing with schedules and charts. I love balancing a checkbook (yes I still do that even in this digital age) and even balancing other peoples checkbooks:) I love planning events and making sure they happen. But when it comes to actual real communication with people I sometimes am at a loss for words. Even when it comes to talking to my own grandchildren I inwardly think, "What should I say, what should I ask them?" I want to know what they're doing, what they're thinking, how they feel about spiritual things; but I feel like my questions seem mundane, routine, without passion.

I'm amazed at people who have a real gift for communicating. I have a daughter who can spend 5 minutes with people I have known for years and find out more about what is going on in their lives than I know.

I have a friend who can meet a complete stranger in Target and in a matter of minutes will sense their real need, know what they believe about God and exchange phone numbers, planning to follow up with them in the next day or so (and she does!).

For the longest time I would compare myself with these passionate, caring individuals and think of their gift on a higher spiritual plane because they dealt more intimately with loving people. But over the years of working under a highly gifted ministry/people person (Jon Shabaglian) I was encouraged over and over that my administrative gift was very much appreciated as it freed up others to do what they do best. It really helped me look at God's design for me in a grateful light and to fully enjoy what I really love to do best.

Are you having a difficult time accepting how God designed you as His perfect plan? I hope these words help you to see that you were created in your mother's womb with His exact intent and He will fit you into the body of Christ uniquely and purposefully. You are His masterpiece!

The Church's One Foundation
The Church's one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord
She is His new creation
By water and the Word
From heav'n He came and sought her
To be His holy bride With His own blood He bought her
And for her life He died

Masterpiece
You're making a masterpiece
You're shaping the soul in me
You're moving where I can't see
And all I am is in your hands
You're taking me all apart
Like it was your plan from the start
To finish your work of art
For all to see
You're making a masterpiece
