Exodus 3:7–8a - "And the Lord said: 'I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them...'" (NKJV)

When I read this verse I thought of a situation in my life that at times I wonder if the Lord understands my grief and if He really has control over making things right for those I love. But here the Lord proclaims that He knows their sorrows, He hears their cry and He will deliver them. It was a lot of years into their slavery but He came to their rescue. It made me think of other times when He comes alongside us and showed His comradeship with us:

Isaiah 53:4: "He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief"

Hebrews 4:15-16: "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin"

Psalm 56:8 "You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?"

The Lord understands my grief and hears my cry. He came to deliver me! If I believe that for myself I must believe it for others no matter how long it takes. So with this encouragement I will continue to pray that His holy spirit will deliver them as well.

This Is Amazing Grace
Who breaks the power of sin and darkness
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory the King above all kings

Whose shakes the whole earth with holy thunder
Who leaves us breathless in awe and wonder
The King of Glory the King above all kings

This is amazing grace this is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You would lay down Your life
That I would be set free
Jesus I sing for all that You've done for me

Who brings our chaos back into order
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory the King above all kings

Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory the King above all kings

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
And worthy is the King who conquered the grave
And worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
And worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy worthy worthy
