"Promises"
Are you someone who keeps your promises? Do people trust your word when you commit to something? Integrity is shown over time, when promises are made and keep.
Thankfully, we have a God who’s word is sure. In fact His Son is His Word. I’m reminded of one of God’s amazing Old Testament promises, that we as a people needed so desperately: “‘Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch. See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua! … ‘and I will remove the sin of this land in a single day.” Zechariah 3:8-9
We had fallen, and we couldn’t get up. The Lord knew our weakness, and new the redemption plan was always going to depend on His ability to fulfill His own promises to the ones He loved. What’s even more special is the high priest name Joshua, is the Hebrew word Yeshua, which is the name Jesus! And in a single day, The Word (Jesus the Christ) removed the sin of this land, because God so loved the world!
Oh to have a God who keeps His promises. Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man, that He would lie, Nor a son of man, that He would change His mind; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” He is our anchor, life sustainer, and example, all at the same time.
So let’s take a moment together right now, and bring to Him sincere gratitude for His trustworthy character, and then lay again our requests of needs at His faithful feet. And from there let us choose even greater faith to honor Him with today, because He is the God who keeps His promises!
