“Space to Hear”
Matthew 13:43
"Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear."
This line, “He who has ears, let him hear” is restated by Jesus many times in the scriptures and clearly is a theme from our Lord for us not to miss. And yet if that’s the case, I wonder if we are positioning ourselves regularly to hear what the Lord of the Universe is wanting to say to His most precious of creations…us.
What a thought that we would absorb mass amounts of entertainment, commercials, social media feeds, advisement jingles, etc… and then we genuinely don’t even have room to receive His life-giving messages. Like a dry sponge, that’s plunged into a dirty pond for hours…then is pulled out, dripping with water and pond scum. When one pours pure filtered watered on the sponge afterwards, in the hopes of benefiting, it sadly just spills onto the ground because the sponge is already saturated and full with content far less beautiful.
That seems to be the state of many of our souls if we’re honest. A life that’s so fast and loud, it drowns out the Lord’s precious words… “He who has ears, let him hear.”
O friends, would you join me to today in pause and evaluation, to make sure this
tragedy isn’t true of us? As a Voice comes out from the throne, and words of life
are written on holy pages, that we would go to whatever means necessary to
make sure our hearts and minds, like a dry sponge, are ready to hear and receive
all that He is saying. Today, that we would MAKE space to hear.
