"Beautiful Aliens"
“…And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.” Hebrews 11:13
Have you noticed that we have more infrastructure, support and assets in our everyday life than any human since the beginning of mankind, and yet in all our progress, it’s clear by simple skim of the news, that we truly aren’t progressing? Whether it’s Facebook/social Media experiments we now see that created significant harm, or the physical deterioration we experience when we keep choosing to “supersize it,” it’s clear we aren’t hitting the bull’s-eye as a people and our need to walk hand in hand closer with the Savior is more obvious every day we live.
And yet observations a of problem never bring a person shalom (peace). In fact that’s a regular weakness I see in us Christians. It’s always easier to observe and find problems in those around us, and yet much harder to say like Paul, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” (1 Corin. 11:1)
So how can we live within all this “more,” in our Western 2021 Christianity, and still in God’s shalom at the same time? The truth is, we must live like aliens! Yep, it’s time to embrace the Biblical truth my friends… we were always supposed to be different, and live better than our lost world. In fact, the closer we live like those around us, the sicker we will find ourselves.
So join me in taking at least 60 seconds right now, to stop and prayerfully evaluate your “more,” and refocus how your priorities can become more of God’s best. It’s becoming clear that if we don’t tie ourselves to our swords, the word of God, and plunge with greater dependency in the Spirit in prayer on a regular basis, there can be no real hope of abundant life in a world of such heartache and excess.
As the scriptures remind us, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” (1 Tim. 6:6) So today, let’s embrace Jesus and His Kingdom whole hearty, drink in His joy and shalom that He gives us freely, and walk head-held-high… as beautiful aliens!
