When Pastor Kenton’s spoke from this passage a few weeks ago I was struck by the realization that the Lord was silent when a woman asked Him to heal her daughter. I know that we talk about what it means when the Lord is silent when we ask Him for somethings. We say it probably means, no or wait…but it just seemed kind of profound in this passage. It was more like a silent pause in a song. You are leaning in…waiting, wondering if, or what will come next. The silence makes what comes after even more important. In this passage the faith of the woman was so profound.
 
What was interesting is that the disciples glossed right over it. They didn’t even notice the Lord was silent. They were too busy expressing what they thought. Today I thought about that. Do I notice when the Lord is purposefully being silent. Is there something I’ve missed that He is trying to reveal to me? Do I really want to know what He has to say? Do I lean in with an expectation that He will say something? Am I willing to wait during the silence.
 
Last week I experienced a little of the Lord’s reward of being still and knowing He is God. I don’t know all the reasons for why He had me do what He had me do, but the outcome was a release of a burden I didn’t even know I was carrying. It was freeing. I learned for myself…the Lord's silence is purposeful.
