“Cursed be the day I was born! May the day my mother bore me not be blessed! Cursed be the man who brought my father the news, who made him very glad, saying “A child is born to you—a son…Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame?"
Who do you think said this?? If you guessed Job you would be wrong. It was Jeremiah (Jeremiah 20:14–15)! As obedient as he was to take God’s message to his people there were times he wished he didn’t have to. But right before this passage Jeremiah is praising the Lord. It gives me comfort that the Lord understands we can struggle but still trust and obey Him.
I was reminded of Jesus’ time in the garden when He prayed, “Not my will, but Thine be done.” He wasn’t asking why he had ever been born but I wonder if He might’ve felt that way. He had to go to the Father three times, submitting himself each time before He was ready to go to the cross.
Aren’t you glad that Jesus knows our every weakness, He understands how hard it is to obey sometimes, to choose the right way. So who better to take those weaknesses to than Him. May you feel the love and support of the Lord today as you go to Him in prayer.
What A Friend We Have In Jesus
Verse 1
What a Friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Ev'rything to God in prayer
O what peace we often forfeit
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Ev'rything to God in prayer
Verse 2
Have we trials and temptations
Is there trouble anywhere
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share
Jesus knows our ev'ry weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Verse 3
Are we weak and heavy laden
Cumbered with a load of care
Precious Savior still our Refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Do thy friends despise forsake thee
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In His arms He'll take and shield thee
Thou wilt find a solace there
