“And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.” So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword." (Exodus 17:9-13)
This is such a great picture of who we are as a family of God. All four of these men needed one another in order to fulfill God’s plan. Joshua needed Moses to hold up the rod, and Moses needed Aaron and Hur to hold up his tired hands.
Right before I read this I got a text from a friend. She is a part of a group of women that are my prayer partners. I know I can send them a prayer request at any time and they will stop what they are doing and pray. I hope you have a prayer support team like that! Her text asked us to pray for some real burdens she had for her family. I stopped and prayed for them right then. I then opened my Bible to where I I had left off from the day before and this is what I read. I was so encouraged. I love how God gives us our own experience to deepen His lessons for us. It caused me to stop and pray for her burdens. again:)
I know it’s summer but don’t take a break from spending time with the Lord! We need His manna every day! Who are your Joshua and Moses, or Aaron and Hur? If you don’t have a prayer support team, start thinking of someone you can ask to be a part of one with you. We need one another.
