John 16:1–7 - “These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. And these things they will do to you because they have not know the Father nor Me. But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you. But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and noe of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?' But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” (NKJV)

These were a part of the last words Jesus spoke to His disciples. Before this, in John 15, Jesus told them, "I am the vine and you are the branches…" and reminded them how important it is to stay connected to Him. He explained what that meant and then told them how much He loved them and that He was going to send them an advocate, the Holy Spirit, who would continue to speak on His behalf so that they would never be in a place where they could not hear His voice.

I thought about when my parents passed away and some of my last communication with them. How precious those words were once I realized they were my last ones before they went to be with Jesus! I know my parents loved me but it’s hard to stay connected with them in the same way other than by my memories of them.

That’s why Jesus’ death is so different. He isn’t dead. He came back to life and because of that, we have the opportunity to have His Holy Spirit living inside of us, speaking His Word to us. It’s so completely different than when a loved one passes away. I can still communicate with Him through His indwelling Spirit. When the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles they must have understood these last words of Jesus in a whole new light!

“Word Of God Speak”
by Pete Kipley and Bart Millard

Verse 1
I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say
Chorus 1
Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
(Word of God speak)

Verse 2
I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice
Misc 1
(Ending)
I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay
