"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'" John 14:6 (NKJV)
The world is doing a great job these days of watering down the gospel and the message of Jesus Christ. In its constant quest for tolerance it is constantly pushing that love and acceptance are the only things that matter and that there are no consequences for our sin and behaviors. All ways are paths to find God, we all have God in us, or we are even all little gods. I watched a Youtube video recently in which a Christian went to a self proclaiming LGBTQ Christian church to see what they taught. The result was much as you might expect, a lot of talk about love and harmony and that all faiths were a path to find God. What was preached was more universalism than christianity.
Jesus however was very clear in His time on earth that there was but one way to God, and it was through Him. John 14:6 is very clear that NO ONE comes to the Father but through Him.
- Jesus said in Matthew 7:14 “Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
- Acts 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
- John 3:18 "Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God."
- 1 John 5:11-12 "And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life."
The Bible is very clear that there is but one way to God, and that is through the Son of God, Jesus Christ. And yet I saw a very startling statistic recently, a poll conducted showed about 60% of self-described “born-again” Christians in America between the ages of 18 and 39 do NOT believe that Jesus is the ONLY WAY to Heaven and that Buddah and Muhammad also are valid paths to salvation. This is an alarming statistic, and shows that our churches are being corrupted from the inside out. We as believers must be familiar enough with the Word of God so as not to fall into the trap of the world and believe only parts of the Bible.
We need to pray for these people that are believing a false gospel because it seems nicer or feels more comfortable. Remember in John 15:20 Jesus said ”...If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you…” If we feel too comfortable in this world, if we don’t feel like the world hates us, or persecutes us, it might be time to check what gospel we are believing in. Jesus is the ONLY way, all other paths ultimately lead to destruction.
Matthew 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.”
