“The Royal Hunt”
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 NIV
What distinguishes something from royalty versus common, the ordinary versus extraordinary, or worthy and less worthy? It has to do with the value of the items or cause, not the cost to attain. It’s remarkable when you step back and see how much the 2022 human soul is bombarded with “less worthy” causes, day in and day out. Were spurred on and engaged incessantly throughout the day to focus on things whose value are honestly very fleeting.
And all the while we have been invited to a royal hunt! Summoned by the King of the Universe and justified by His sacrificial and matchless Son. All access has only been giving to His highest creation, the ones who bear his image. (Gen 1:26)
If this adventure came out in theaters, I’m sure so many of us would go to watch it… And yet responding with our own lives in action seems to weed out much of the crowd. But we are no less invited! As the psalmist said, “taste and see that the Lord is good.” For those of us who have tasted, I’m sure your souls become warmed when we speak of the things of the Heavenly Kingdom, and of the compassionate Father who “so loved the world, that He gave.”
So my friends today is a simple reminder to strive to discard the unworthy attractions, for the royal hunt… to Know Him, and be known! God is inviting us to seek Him and promised that we will find Him when we seek Him with all our hearts. This is a true quest for a real holy grail‘s if there ever was. Not a relic or a piece of gold, but the God who is the source of all life and gives out endless living water to quench our thirsty souls. Why crave day-old happy meals, when we have a seven course meal on the horizon?!
I’ll conclude our time with this beautiful hymn:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
look full in his wonderful face
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim
in the light of His glory and grace.
Join me today, on the true Royal Hunt with endless treasure that awaits!
