DAY 15: Created for a Purpose
A professor in a world-acclaimed medical school once posed this medical situation – and ethical problem – to his students:
“Let me give you a family history,” he began. “Suppose that a father has syphilis. The mother has tuberculosis. And they’ve already had four children. The first is blind. The second died. The third is deaf. And the fourth has contracted tuberculosis. Now the mother is pregnant again. The parents come to you for advice. They are willing to have an abortion, if you decide they should. What do you say?”
The students gave various individual opinions, and then the professor asked them to break into small groups for “consultation.”
All of the groups came back to report that they would recommend abortion.
“Congratulations,” the professor said, “You just took the life of Beethoven!”
I wonder how many Einsteins and DaVincis and Beethovens have never entered the world because of abortion?
As Christians, we believe every child deserves a chance to live because every child is created by God for a purpose.
Jeremiah 1:5 – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Notice that God knew Jeremiah before he was conceived, and God set him apart to fulfill a special purpose before he was even born. But what if Jeremiah’s mother had decided to terminate her pregnancy?
Imagine having a Bible with only 65 books in it… and never hearing of the prophet Jeremiah.
Every child deserves a chance to live, because God created each one with a divine purpose that only he knows and only time can reveal.
Suggested things to pray for:

- Today let’s pray for children in the womb – that their mothers would give them the opportunity to live and discover their special place in this world and their unique purpose in life.
