There is a Glorious Day Coming…
Ephesians 1:13–14 - “In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of the promise, who is a first installment of our inheritance, in regard to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.” (NASB)
I don’t know about you but I am tired of seeing how sin and evil are affecting our world today. The Apostle Paul wrote that things will continue to get worse as the day of Christ’s return draws near. (2 Timothy 3:1) Our world is on a self destructive course without Christ. But for the child of God, there is great hope and we should live each day focused on what our heavenly Father has promised. (1 John 3:1–3)
There is a day that is coming, when we will be loosed from the weaknesses, frailties, sin and decay that have so affected us physically and emotionally. To this moment, we have not received all that God has promised us in our salvation. I am so thankful that God has “redeemed” us. This means we have been released from the bondage of sin as a result of Jesus paying our ransom through giving His life for us. This redemption provides a complete freedom or unloosing from all sin. Today we have been freed from the slavery of sin. Our bodies though, still bear the marks of sin but there is hope. There is coming a day when our bodies will be completely freed from the affects of sin and will be glorified. All this will happen to bring praise and glory to our heavenly Father. God has designed our lives to bring Him glory. We are the recipients of His grace. This favor is not deserved, but is the result of the Father’s eternal plan for us. He has blessed us and will continue to bless us spiritually beyond anything we can imagine or think.
As God’s sons and daughters we are highly favored and He has “freely bestowed” His blessing on our lives. We are truly a very special people to God and have rights and privileges that are unparalleled in God’s redemptive plan.
So what does this mean to us today? (1) Our value and worth come as a result of who we are in Christ. (2) Our life is to be lived in hope recognizing there is coming a day when we will be taken into the presence of the Lord as an heir of all that Christ possesses. Let us live as an heir today. Let us live as one who is truly free from the bondage of sin. (3) Our lives should be lived as an expression of our praise and worship to God for all that He has done for us. Our future is beyond anything we can imagine, so let us live daily in that hope.
Prayer: Lord, I often get discouraged looking at the way sin and evil seem so prevalent in our world. It is easy to focus on all that is going wrong and not focus on the hope of the eternal salvation You have given me. Someday I will be in Your presence completely released from sin to enjoy the salvation You have provided. Help me to live in light of that every day. Amen
