The Most Misunderstood Ministry in Our Church
Did you know we have a ministry in our church called Re:generation? Most people don’t. And those who have heard about it don’t really know what it is. Some say “Isn't that ministry for recovering alcohol and drug addicts?” The answer is “Yes.” But that’s not all it’s for. Re:generation is for everyone who has an area of struggle in their life, however minimal, that they would like to bring before the Lord and be freed from.
Re:generation is about having A New Life in Christ.
In the Bible, God tells us where freedom and new life can be found. Anyone who is hurting and tired, has given up hoping for change, or wants to identify and remove obstacles to deeper fellowship with God is invited to come as they are and find healing in Jesus.
Re:generation walks participants through the 12 steps of biblical healing in the context of authentic community. There is no quick fix for life’s brokenness. Instead, through consistent, committed discipleship based on God’s Word, countless people have uncovered and found freedom from struggles like substance abuse, codependency, pornography, eating disorders, pride, depression, fear, control, emotional/physical abuse, same-sex attraction, people-pleasing, anger, obsessive thoughts, and more.
I decided to go to Re:generation for the first time in 2021. I was struggling with people-pleasing and a fear of rejection. I came to Re:generation and was welcomed by people who really wanted to know me and love me. I heard an amazing testimony from a guy who was struggling with a lot of anxiety. He shared with us that He’d been through Re:generation and in the context of loving community with other men, he was able to study Scripture, get a better understanding of the gospel, and identify some tools to deal with his anxiety.
I was sold. I joined Re:generation, and got into a group with fifteen men. I got a mentor who I still meet with regularly to this day. And I worked through my struggles, bringing them into the light of the gospel in authenticity with these men. And I experienced freedom in Christ like I had never felt before.
1 John 1:5–7 says, “This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (NASB)
Re:generation is for men and women. And the goal is teaching God’s people to walk in the light of the gospel. That means sharing our struggles with one another, bringing them before the Lord Jesus and experiencing fellowship with one another in a way you may never have before.
Re:generation has already started, but it’s not too late to sign-up. We meet from 6:30–8:30 on Tuesday nights at Campus Bible Church, Maple site in room A203. Come this Tuesday.
